COSMETOLOGY; HAIRCUTTING 2-2 SCISSORS/ RAZOR State Board demo, 90 degree...

State Board requires the future cosmetologists to use both the scissors and the razor at the exam. Check the exam book to find out which tool goes first for the guideline. This video shows the haircut starting with scissors, and tapering with a razor. The students need to demonstrate a proper usage of the tools. Both implements need to be palmed while combing the hair. The scissors have to be closed and the thumb has to be out of the thumb grip while combing. The operator needs to cut 1/2 inch or more hair on the entire head of the model. A trim will not be accepted at State Board Exam. The whole operation time is 20 minutes. The examiners are looking to see the students follow the guideline through the entire haircut. The hair needs the be sectioned into 4 or 5 sections, depending how the students have been taught at school. The haircut needs to be balanced/blended. The State Board model needs to be told that the haircut is not meant for beauty pageant; it will be a basic haircut. The student will decide which haircut to perform.
If the client has one length hair; zero degree is fine, but if it's layered, the haircut for State Board needs to be layered, too: to be able to fit the State Board exam criteria of cutting the entire hair. Besides, the hair that has been layered is easy to finger wave and manage at the exam.
