What happens when you are caught working without license in the salon; you will get a warning, the salon owner will get a fine ($1000 citation or more), you might lose the chance of getting a license… A cosmetology school graduate was not able to apply for the license because of her papers, but she was working in the salon for 7 years. Two salon workers had called Sacramento state board and immigration on her, but, based on the new Obama law that illegal aliens who came to U.S. before age 16 could get their papers, she was able to get her papers straight and work on her license. State board inspector came 3 times to investigate the matter and gave the lady a warning and kept coming to check if she is working on clients or working as a receptionist. Without a state license you can only work as a receptionist in a beauty establishment, clean the salon, etc… you cannot perform client services without a cosmetology, barber, manicurist, and esthetician license. Learn from the brave hairdresser who shares her story and gives you advice about working in the salon. She also speaks about how to look professional, provide customer service and product (retail) services, and keep clean in the salon. This humorous, educational video is to remind the beauty school students and unlicensed cosmetologists, beauty practitioners that working without a license can get them in real trouble.
