Start with a consultation. Make sure you understand how much does the client want her hair to be cut. Establish a guideline where the client could be able to see: on the side of the ear and the top of the crown. Cut the sides first using one-finger measurements; combine the two sides with the back nape area. Use the scissor-over-comb technique to cut the hair further up the sides and the lower back area of the head.  Cut the crown hair using the previously established guideline. Use the guide and two finger measurements out of the scalp. Combine the crown and side area by using guide and on and half finger measurements out of the scalp. Cut the excess hair on the sides of the head measuring the top and bottom guidelines. Cut the front fringe area down to the forehead. Cut the hair around the hairline forward to the face. Match the fringe with the top layers by over-directing part of the fringe to the top layers. Points cut the entire top and back area to make the hair spike up and for better blending. Use hair gel to style the hair. THIS VIDEO IS A DETAILED BEGINNER'S VIDEO FOR STUDENTS; step-by-step instruction class free for cosmetology/ beauty school students, barbers, hairdressers, salon professionals who would like to know how to do a basic short haircut for women using finger measurements, guidelines and finger over comb technique.
