Learn how to cover gray with red dye; the hairdresser needs to mix desired red tone with a neutral base of the same level as the red. Mix one ounce of 6R (Wella Color) and half ounce of 6N (611) Neutral with 3 ounces of 20 volume peroxide. Apply the mixture to the roots and immediately go to mix the second color which is more red and less neutral, because the hair shaft has almost no gray. Mix one and a quarter of the red 6R and a quarter of the neutral 6N with 3 ounces of 20 volume peroxide and apply to the mid section of the hair (do not color the porous hair ends, yet). Wait for 5-10 minutes, depending on the condition of the hair. Add the leftover color through the ends, wait for 5 minutes or until the color develops evenly. Wash the hair, followed with the cool rinse. The video also shows how to clean the color off the skin of the hairline so it won't stain the skin. This is not a state board procedure; it is an advanced training for cosmetologists, beauty school students, hairdressers, colorists, and salon professionals to earn good money in the salon.
Knowing what kind of haircolor does fit an individual is really something of great skill and talent that not anyone can have - but can be learned - some at Wisconsin Cosmetology schools
