HOW TO BECOME A COSMETOLOGIST

COSMETOLOGISTS CAREER IS FUN AND LUCRATIVE; BUT YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD TO BECOME A PROFESSIONAL. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN MAKE AS  MUCH MONEY AS DOCTORS AND LAWYERS MAKE.

1. Find out if this career is for you. You have to have people skills,  patience, and willingness to work hard.  Visit some beauty schools and salons to see if this is for you.

2. Once you have decided to be a cosmetologist, find a beauty school that you would like to enroll.

3. Public vs. Private schools: if you want to pay much less for your education, find a public occupational center that offers a cosmetology program.  If you are tight with time, you might consider a private school, since they have longer school hours and fewer off days. Public schools have to be closed on holidays, which would extend your time of completion of the course. Most have enrollments twice a year with limited amount of students, and you might be on a waiting list for a long time.

4. The length of cosmetology course is determined by the hours of attendance: example; California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology requires 1,600 hours to get a certificate to be able to apply for the State Exam to get Cosmetology License.

5. The Beauty School you attend would prepare you for the State Board Examination. Also check for free help online for condensed theory and practical class/reviews on BeautyHealthTravel Channel on YouTube.
