Help for Students with Previous Cosmetology Hours

IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUS COSMETOLOGY HOURS AND WANT TO SCHEDULE AN EXAM DATE FROM STATE BOARD, THERE IS HELP FOR YOU

1. Find out what are the cosmetology hour requirements of the state you live in by calling or visiting the website of your state; example: California State Board of Cosmetology requires 1,600 hours.
2. If you have the proof for required amount of hours, (if you have attended a school in United States, or have foreign cosmetology school hours), contact the State Board of Cosmetology, ask for an examination application, fill it out, attach a money order for the application fee, and send it back. It takes about 6-8 weeks for them to respond. They would send you an admission letter with your examination date.
3. If you don't have enough hours, you can complete those missing hours in a beauty school. The schools are required to grant you the hours studied, even if you don't finish the entire course, only if you are not behind on your tuition payments. Occupational centers and colleges with cosmetology programs have semesters and quarters, which makes it easier to get your hours necessary to combine with your previous hours. They also cost less money.
4. Don't  worry about passing the test, if you don't complete the entire coarse. Since you have some beauty school training, you will require a refresher course available free at my blog (coming soon) for theory and practical procedures, and on BeautyHealthTravel Channel videos on YouTube.
